Traveling Light - Summer Edition

With many airlines now charging for more than one carry-on and bags that exceed the carry-on limit in weight, there are many resources via the internet and books that can help you in packing light, avoiding all of the fuss of checking in baggage, and staying green at the same time.

These resources are not just for flight travel...they can also be applied to all other forms of travel, especially if you have limited space (such as in your car).

Benefits:
1. The less you take on the plane, the less fuel it has to use and fewer emissions in the atmosphere.
2. Saving yourself from the airlines who try and get even more money from you by charging you for checking in more than one bag. Some airlines include AirTran, Continental, US Airways, Delta, and Northwest.
3. Fewer bags means less of a hassle when you are on the move. This means you can easily take more forms of transportation, such as buses and the metro system. This will come in handy for all of you who intend on backpacking through Europe, etc.

Sample Tips:
1. Choose base colors for clothing that will easily mix and match with one another, therefore, minimizing the amount of outfits that fill up your travel bag/suitcase.
2. Pack everything you want to bring without thinking about how much space you have in your bag, then only take 1/3 of it.
3. The bundle method- used for packing clothes and other accessories in a way that takes up the least amount of space in your bag.
