Drop the detergents and cleaners that are packed with toxic chemicals and pick up a bottle of White Vinegar. It is four times less expensive than your household cleaners, disinfects just as well, the scent disappears as it dries, acts as a deodorizer, and can treat Athlete's Foot! Who wouldn't want that?
Try-it-Tips:
1) Be sure to use white distilled vinegar - balsamic and red wine varieties will stain
2) Fabric softener: Add 1/2 cup to the rinse cycle
3) Toilet bowl cleaner: Use white vinegar to get rid of rings
4) As an All-Purpose countertop and mildew cleaner: mix 1:1 vinegar and water in a spray bottle
5) Window cleaner: Mix 1:4 vinegar:water in a spray bottle
6) Remove the leftover odor after a rider has been carsick by leaving a bowl of white distilled vinegar overnight on the floor.
7) Polish car chrome with full-strength white distilled vinegar on a soft cloth
8) If you have some weed killing to do, use higher concentrations of vinegar (10%+) that can be found in hardware stores; household vinegars sold in grocery stores usually have 5% concentration
Helping the Earth: Exchanging household cleaners (Comet, All-Purpose, Windex, etc.) for White Vinegar will not only save you a few dollars, but will reduce the concentration of detergents that are found in U.S. waterways (high concentrations of detergents found in 69% of waterways according to a 2002 nationwide study).
